Bonnie J. Hooper is a board certified nurse practitioner specializing in dermatology. She earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing with honors from California State University at Long Beach, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Ms. Hooper specializes in the treatment of acne and related disorders, combining conventional approaches with state of the art laser treatments to enhance results. She has a special interest in skin cancer screening and prevention education.

Trained at one of the foremost dermatology practices in the nation (Dermatology Associates of San Diego County), she has over twelve years of experience in both general and cosmetic dermatology. Her cosmetic practice includes Botox and Restylane, chemical peels, and various laser treatments for unwanted facial and leg veins, tattoo removal, skin discolorations, hair reduction, and photo rejuvenation.

Bonnie now offers her dermatology services in Encinitas, La Jolla and Mammoth Lakes, California.

She has worked as Clinical Instructor/Adjunct Faculty at Palomar College, and as an administrative consultant at Scripps Memorial Hospital – La Jolla. She also published a book, Primary Dermatologic Care (Mosby, 1998), and lectures on various aspects of acne treatment.

Memberships in professional associations include Sigma Theta Tau (National Nursing Honor Society), California Association of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Nurse Practitioners, Dermatology Nurses Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

In her spare time, Ms. Hooper enjoys competitive marathon running, snow skiing, weight training, and Pilates.
